Guangzhou
From the island of Hainan in southern China I took an overnight train to Guangzhou (formerly known as Canton). Soon after departing from Hainan the train was put on a ferry for crossing the Qiongzhou Strait to mainland China. This train-on-a-ferry ride took several hours.
